Betty asks…

Basketball Shoes?

Where Can I Buy a Basketball Shoes For 40 to 50 dollars here in kentucky? i am planning to buy a wade 1.3 but any suggestions?

The Expert answers:

Any shoe store. The thing is when you go, go to the little tables that have shoes on them and boxes beneath them. The discount table as I call it. They are usually the cheap shoes that don’t have many sizes. You can’t ask them for a size as the sizes available are all by the shoe. If you get lucky you’ll be able to find a pair. Like the other day I saw some black and gold Iverson’s for 30 bucks. Sadly they didn’t have my size. But that is where you go when you want some cheap shoes with quality. You get lucky, you’ll make a great purchase and save a lot of money.

What basketball shoes do you recommend for wide feet?

I’m a size 2E in New Balance running shoes. What basketball shoes do you guys recommend? Does wearing a size up and extra socks help when using narrow basketball shoes? What basketball shoes models do you personally recommend?

The Expert answers:

NB is the most comfortable shoe I’ve worn outside athletic competition.
See if you can get them in a high-top, otherwise Adidas is pretty good.

Helen asks…

Will basketball shoes do for custodian work aside from Redwings for the like?

I was thinking of purchasing some work shoes for my custodian job but was wondering if just even, basketball shoes would do well. I would like actual work boots but they are just too expensive. I figure basketball shoes because they are made to have good traction on smooth surfaces. Well, I do not know about wet surfaces just yet. The only thing is getting them wet.

The Expert answers:

Yeah, just get a rugged heavy pair. Don’t get the breathable ones. Also they aren’t too good on wet surfaces, but once you get back on try they have better traction.
