David asks…

NBA Live 13 and NCAA College Basketball 13?

I just wanted to see if my ideas were actually good, and to see if they yahoo community could help on making them better, and find out how to get these ideas to EA for suggestions.

NBA Live 13 and NCAA College Basketball 13

They should have a road to glory kind of mode for College Basketball. Where you play from high school into college, and upload your player from college into the draft then into the NBA to start out their career. It should be just like road to glory just basketball related.

NCAA College Basketball 13

oGet to play full season or play four years of high school
oGet scholarship offers from top high schools in the nation
oClimb your way up the recruit board

oHave key games where you have extra impact and gain points for skills
oOr games here you have scouts or coaches watching
oMcDonalds all American Game or Jordan game ( idk about Jordan)
oCommitments and college offers and signing day
oOffseason have workouts and Pro-Am’s
o Go to college!
-NCAA
oPreseason tourneys if you have them
oPractice
oKey games
oTransfer offers
oLeave to NBA any season
oMarch Madness, NIT, or any other postseason tourneys
oAll American team, Wooden award, and other college honors
oCheck your draft status on where you could go
oNCAA tourney atmosphere in each round
-NBA
oNBA draft day + the atmosphere
oCan be undrafted- take the route of an undrafted player (D-League, call ups, and Euro league)
oWork hard to get into the starting rotation
oBecome a household name in the L
oHave an NBA career

The Expert answers:

I would really love if this would happen… I would be okay if it were to be 100-150 dollars for the huge amount of extra work, but I would love it.

Jenny asks…

Name five college basketball players that didn’t live up to their hype once they reached the NBA?

The first person to name three of the five on my list gets the points!! Here’s a hint for one of my five:
1. He went to the University of Connecticut, but in high school lost in the UIL playoffs to a team that had another one of the players on my list.

ok ok…that may be two hints….
Good luck!

The Expert answers:

Every hot prospect from Duke.

1.Christian Laettner
2.Chris Duhon
3.Shane Battier
4.William Avery
5.Daniel Ewing

The player you talking about Emeka Okfor is one of the best centers in the league averages a double double and is great at blocks. But his team is very young and struggles to play well togeter. If Sean May and Morrison get it together. Look out for the cats in 08.

Steven asks…

NBA Playoffs: Post-season blues?

Odds are, if you’re a basketball fan, you’re team is no longer in the playoffs. And you’re also waiting for next year so your team can go further and do better. I actually lost my entire team (live in Seattle). So then I supported Boston because I love Ray Allen, and have always liked Kevin Garnett. Unfortunately, they lost today to the Magic. I really thought they would win. But now it’s over. Not having KG really hurt. But they did a lot better than most people expected, which really isn’t much consolation because they had so many chances. If you can’t already tell, I’m pretty upset and using this as my outlet.

But I’m sure many of the rest of you whose teams are no longer in the playoffs, or failed to make the playoffs feel the same way. My question to you is, who do you want to win? No who do you think will win. But out of the four remaining teams – Lakers, Cavaliers, Nuggets, and Magic. Who do you want to win?

For me, the pain is too near to want the Magic to win. So I’m gonna go with the Nuggets because I like Chauncey Billups. I know the Lakers and Cavs MUST win the championship in order to write off their season as a success. But frankly, I don’t care. The Lakers can sometimes be too cocky (maybe it’s just Jack Nickelson) and so can the Cavs, and LeBron is always talking about wanting to go to New York (pretty annoying, even though I don’t live in Ohio).

Mainly, it’s because I’m not an avid fan of either team, so I like going with the team that isn’t expected to win. I think a Kobe-LeBron matchup could be entertaining, but it’s also being overhyped. They are great players. But the underdog story is more appealing to me. Not to mention we don’t have to hear the commentators drool all over Kobe and LeBron, and completely forget about the other players.

P.S. Sorry for the length of this post. But reading isn’t exactly hard and if you’re a fan, you’ll get why it’s so long. Losing can be hard, even though it really isn’t that important. Also, no hating. On any team. It’s one thing to criticize, but naming calling is completely classless and immature so I don’t want to see any posts like that on here. Thanks.

The Expert answers:

Im a celtic fan, ill go with the nuggets.. They are the team with the most teamwork among the 4.

Carol asks…

Anybody else get sick of the NBA after the finals this year?

Sorry Miami enjoy your championship…just a few quotes from around the country………….Note: I’m not saying I agree with these perspectives … but here’s a very fair sampling of the e-mails that drifted into my mailbox on Sunday night and Monday morning.

I do solemnly swear, this 19th day of June, 2006 that I will never watch an NBA game again. Everyone is supposed to say what a great game that was with a straight face? At least the WWE has the grace to give you a wink. If watching a man in a flak jacket and thigh pads repeatedly throw himself into defenders to draw foul calls is what passes for “competition,” or better yet watching said man hit layups because no one can breathe on him, I believe I can live without [it]. Why would anyone follow a “sport” that employs Dick Bavetta and Stu Jackson? All that was missing was David Stern running onto the court with a steel chair, ABC execs in tow. Bill Simmons, I name thee prophet. It went down exactly as you said it would.
– James, Richmond, Virginia

Twenty-five free-throw attempts is nonsense, not even MJ would have gotten some of those foul calls. And I’m not just saying this because I’m a bitter Pistons fan. Sixty-year-old officials should not be officiating 20-something-year-old professional athletes.
– Paul, Detroit, Mich.

Have you ever, I mean EVER, seen a guy get more calls than Wade in Game 5? As staggering as it is to even think it, much less say it out loud, this surpasses the level of calls Jordan used to get in the playoffs. Simply AMAZING. I am a die-hard NBA fan, and I understand and accept the whole “stars get calls” factor, but this is an insane new level. Every time Wade falls down (even if not touched) he gets a call. You called it in your preview, the refs were gonna give some games to Miami, and they did.
– Jonathan, Raleigh, N.C.

Please admit to everyone that the treatment Dwyane Wade is receiving is absolutely absurd. The final play in Game 5 summed it up: He commits a backcourt violation, pushes off on Terry, then goes wildly to the bucket and gets bailed out on a phantom foul call. Is what the NBA has to do to create its star of the future?
– Mark, Chicago

I watch very little NBA basketball; however, as the playoffs have been playing out, I have found myself watching more and more games, becoming more interested. Then comes the Finals and I feel like I am watching pro wrestling, except I can fool myself into thinking those matches aren’t fixed. At least it makes the NBA the easiest sport to gamble on.
– Jeremy Louden, Cincinnati

I want to say something about Dwayne Wade, but I fear I may get called for a foul.
– Warren, Ludington, Mich.

Unfortunately you were right that the NBA finals could come down to the officials. David Stern would rather choke to death on his own vomit than hand Mark Cuban the trophy. It’s clear he instructed the refs to take an active interest in the outcomes of the games. Every time Wade drives the lane the refs call a foul on whoever is closest.
– Jeff, Baltimore

After witnessing the Game 5 debacle, I am absolutely convinced that Stern is trying to fix the Finals for D-Wade and the Heat. Stackhouse’s suspension, Dirk’s phantom foul in OT, and then Joey Crawford’s inexplicable call for a Mavs timeout — it all adds up too perfectly. This could be a conspiracy as far-reaching as Watergate. I can already imagine the inevitable ESPN movie, “All The Commissioner’s Men,” where a stubborn, upstart young sports columnist brings down Stern and the entire NBA hierarchy. So, Simmons, the only question is: Will you be our Bob Woodward?
– Robert P., Topeka, Kan.

All the comparisons between Wade and Jordan need to stop right now. There’s no way Jordan would have gotten that call in the final seconds of Game 5.
– Chris Richardson, Charleston

The Expert answers:

Oh my gosh! YES!!!! The Phoenix Suns were beat up for the first two rounds!!!! But we were rooting for Dallas during the Finals. I am so aggravated! This is crap that seriously needs to STOP!!!!! Ill always watch my Suns, but I cant ever watch a game without wanting to throw something at the tv. Nash is a double MVP and he doesn’t get anything called for him ever,. Its just plain ridiculous.

Linda asks…

Basketball: Which NBA player will breakout to superstar status by next season?

Somebody that can carry his team into the post season, put up great numbers, & be a nominee for MVP…..Just like Drose this year. He was only a all star last season, but he has marked his super stardom this year. Another example would be Kevin Durant last year. Even though he didn’t win the mvp. Durant still was a nominee for most valuable player, won the scoring title, & took the thunders to the post season for the first time.

Kevin Love: He’s at all star status right now. Due to his scoring & incredible rebounding streak. Can he be persistent by increasing his stats and taking the twolves to the playoffs next year?

Eric Gordon: Gordon did get some publicity due to his high performance during the summer games. He did increase his stats this year. Can he be the next elite shooting guard in the NBA since Brandon Roy?

John Wall: Wall did a pretty good for a rookie point guard averaging 16 points , 8 assist, and 1.8 steals per game. That’s about the same as Chris Paul when he was a rookie. Some people don’t think he lived up to his hype, but I think he did a great job.

Blake Griffin: 22 & 12 boards as a rookie. Enough said…….

Tyreke Evans: He had a very successful rookie campaign. Had the same type of numbers as past/current legends ( Jordan, Lebron, Oscar) during his first year he averaged 20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assist. This season he was playing with a injured ankle. Once that heals he will. I know he will escalate into a superstar.

Monta Ellis: Ellis has been putting up great stats for the last two seasons. Around 25 points, 2 steals, & 5 assist. If he can lead the warriors to a playoff birth. I know he will be more recognized & considered for M.V.P.

Other mentions: Stephan Curry, Zach Randolph, Rudy Gay, OJ Mayo, Michael Beasley, Demarcus Cousins, Demar Derozan, Lemarcus Aldridge etc

The Expert answers:

Tyreke Evans and Eric Gordon. Maybe Rudy Gay.

Robert asks…

Will there be better NBA coverage in Canada if? are there any canadians on this section?

Steve Nash and the Suns come back and make it to the NBA finals? I’m usually on the hockey section by the way so that’s why i ask if there’s any canadians.
I’m a raptors fan as I live in Toronto but the Suns are my second team since Nash is my favorite player and it was sad seeing the Suns miss the playoffs last year but they rebounded and look where they are now. I’m happy and i’ve been following their run closely, i hope they can win tommorow to set up a big game 7 although the lakers might be motivated after boston won tonight. I was just wondering if any canadian basketball fans think the coverage here will be better if the suns make it.
I understand why the sport gets small coverage, I am a hockey and baseball fan first. then basketball, soccer, football. Hockey will always be number one simply because of the canadian talent out there, 60% of the NHL is canadian and just look at the stanley cup final. Two canadian captains and some canadian olympians on both chicago and philly. baseball is growing with the amount of canadian baseball players there are/have been: Paul Quantrill, Justin Morneau, Eric Gagne, Jeff Francis, Ryan Dempster, Russell Martin, Matt Stairs, Corey Koskie, etc….
The CFL is big here and soccer is growing with an immigrant population but i wonder if basketball can grow. I mean I thought kids could look up to him as a role model but with the lousy coverage here, it’s tough. In hockey and baseball, we see the post-game press conferences but I’ve been following TSN’s coverage and I haven’t seen that for the NBA playoffs. I understand because there’s no canadian content other than nash but i would hope that they would at least follow the Suns. It just gets one highlight pack on Sportscentre and that’s it. No post-game or anything. It’s like Canada dosen’t care about Steve Nash but they should, I mean he was a torch-bearer in the olympics and in my eyes, the Canadian athlete of the past decade with his 2 mvps and possible 3. He is top 5 in terms of canadian athletes that made it big in my eyes.

The Expert answers:

Yes I am canadian, ofcourse there will be plenty of coverage.

Nash is the too canadian athlete

Mark asks…

Why NBA playoff games are so much different from the regular season games?

Everyone says games in the playoff are so much different from the games in the regular season games why? i mean why are they talking about how teams with more playoff experience get a better edge then those who dont? isnt it all the same when it comes play in the court itself its just another usual basketball game.

The Expert answers:

Playoff games are different in some ways:
1. More time to prepare, none of the games are back to back.
2. Some teams or players that lack playoff experience will not perform as well. Although this is arguable (Lebron James first post season performance was OUTSTANDING) most players don’t play as well without experience.
3. PRESSURE. Pressure during the playoffs is way more intense than it is during the regular season.
4. Teams play the same team over and over again.

Mary asks…

Does any website sell old NBA games that aren’t the NBA Finals or tell scores of al games from past seasons?

I just wanted to know if there was a website that sold old NBA basketball games that weren’t the NBA Finals. Or if there’s a website that sells books that tell the scores and give other stats of old basketball games regular and playoffs for each individual team.

The Expert answers:

This might not give you everything you’re looking for, but if you go to

http://www.basketball-reference.com/

you can select a team, click on any year in the team’s history, and then select “Game Results”, it will give you the score of every game played that season, including playoff games.

For example, going to:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/LAL/1972_games.html

will give you the game by game results of the 72 Lakers, including their all time record 33 game winning streak…

The site is making box score data available for games going back to the 90s and they’re expanding box score availability all the time.

It also has a stat filter that will get you leaders by team, league, position, etc, for any period of seasons, for any franchise, etc…

A great site…

Ken asks…

Do Yahoo fantasy basketball games go into the playoffs? (in the real NBA)?

My league doesn’t end the playoff week until April 19 which is sunday so im not sure if i won or not. is the week over for playoffs and i won already or do i have to pick up players that are on teams in the playoffs?

Jenny asks…

Will there be somewhere in Amsterdam that will play NBA playoff games on tv next week?

I am a big basketball fan and I am going to a bachelor party in Amsterdam next week, and while I am excited for the trip, the NBA playoffs start next week and I was wondering if there would be any bars that would show the games on tv. If the game started @ 8 on the east coast of the usa, that would mean a starting time of 2 oclock in the morning. Probably not right?

The Expert answers:

I was in Amsterdam during the playoffs back in 2004 and they had abbreviated games on the regular TV.

Daniel asks…

Should the NBA switch to single-game elimination in the PLAYOFFS?

In College Basketball, the NCAA Tournament is Best of 1. I think the NBA should switch to single-game elimination because the stakes are not as high in best of 7. If it was single-game elimination, the players would try MUCH MUCH Harder.

The Expert answers:

Good point, but a best of 1 is way too short. Another point is that if the NFL can do it, why not the NBA, NHL, and MLB? The obvious answer, of course, is that football is much more physically taxing on players.

A potential solution may be best of 3 in the first round, best of 5 in the second, and best of 7 after that.

However, this will never happen because the league and teams make a lot of money from TV revenue. Thus, the more games there are, the more money for them. Why would they voluntarily give up that money?

Besides, if you’re a basketball fan, wouldn’t you want to see more games and not less games??

I have to admit, though, a do-or-die best of 1 would be awfully intense and exciting. Sort of like the playgrounds: “Bring your A game, or shut up.”

Sharon asks…

BASKETBALL: What was the first NBA game you’ve ever been to?

First game I ever went to was a Heat playoff game in 2004 against the Hornets…back when Wade was a rookie and they had like Odom, Caron Butler and Eddie Jones. It was so sick too because Wade ended up making the game-winning shot with 1 second left. At that time I never remembered a crowd getting so loud all at once it was f*cking amazing! Best game i ever been to
@ Lebon GAOT- Yeah that was Game 4 when Wade hit like 5 threes in the 4th quarter..Dam must’ve been crazy to watch it live

The Expert answers:

Heat vs 76ers First Round Game 5 When Miami Closed em out.
First game I seen was Heat vs Celtics Game 4 Last year. When Wade went off. That was game 4 right, or 5?

Jenny asks…

NBA Playoff Predictions 2010-11?

Yes, I know it’s early but why not start to think about it.

What teams do you see making the playoffs this year? How will they be ranked?

This is what I think:

East:

1. Heat (They’ll have a good year and bench players will step up their games)

2. Celtics (Addition of Shaq and Basketball IQ of the veteran players allows them to be a top team in the league. And Rondo will be ready to play)

3. Magic (They’ll have another good year)

4. Bulls (much improved team. Offense and defense has improved. Boozer will be a good complimentary player for Noah in the post. Rose’s assist will increase and he gets better every year)

5. Bucks (I think they’ll compete with the Bulls all year in the central division. Bogut is turning into a good big man scorer. Jennings will have another good year. They have a decent offensive squad with Jennings, Salmons and Delfino).

6. Hawks (Joe Johnson is back and ready to play. I think this quick athletic team will have another good year)

7. Wizards (JOHN WALL! And I think with a better back court they’ll do fine)

8. Nets (I think Avery Johnson’s coaching style will allow them to be at least an 8th seed if they can stay healthy, especially Harris)

West:

1. Lakers (of course, fans will love the addition of Steve Blake and Matt Barnes)

2. Thunder (I know you think I’m crazy. But I think they’ll improve drastically. They’ve been to the playoffs. Durant is only going to become a BEAST this season. And all of the young athletic players like Green, Westbrook, Harden will gain experience and they should be able to come together as a team)

3. Mavs (I think they’ll have a good year. They’re players are similar to Boston in terms of age and experience)

4.Suns (I think now that Amare’s gone this team is going to be able to go to work. I think they’re going to be able to spread the floor a lot more with the addition of Hedo Turkoglu who is a great play maker)

5. Blazers (I think they’ll make the playoffs. They solved their “point guard” problem and they should be able to have another good year. They just need to dump Fernandez before he causes a lot of “behind the scenes” problems in the locker room)

6. Kings (I think with Evans coming back for his second year, ready to turn things up a notch, he will become the leader and scorer of this team. Plus, with the addition of Cousins, they’ll gain points in the paint and a much needed rebounder/defensive presence)

7. Spurs (I don’t like the boring Spurs, but I think they’ll make the playoffs again)

8. Clippers (I think they have a lot of work to do, but I think Griffin will come back ready to play and Eric Gordon should have yet another good year. They really need Baron Davis to come back from his injury and step his game up) -or-

8. Warriors (Stephen Curry had a great rookie year. He’s going to be a great offensive threat in the NBA. With the addition of Lee and Monta Ellis doing his thing, I think they’ll battle with the Clippers and Spurs toward the end of the season for the 7th or 8th spot)

The Expert answers:

West:
1. Lakers
2. Mavericks
3. Thunder
4. Nuggets
5. Trail Blazers
6. Jazz
7. Spurs
8. Suns

East:
1. Heat
2. Celtics
3. Magic
4. Bulls
5. Hawks
6. Bucks
7. Bobcats
8. Knicks
.

John asks…

Why are a lot of basketball fans ignorant?

Before I continue with this, I would like to let people know that I am not a Lebron fan or Kobe fan, I am just speaking the facts.

After reading this article, http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/The-top-10-players-of-the-2010-NBA-playoffs?urn=nba,242918

and reading the comments below it, I thought it was time to teach people something about basketball. First off, I read comments of people calling Lebron James all sorts of names including Lebrick, and loser, and etc… Other people posted comments stating things such as: Lebron James sucks and that he is sitting at home on his couch after leading his team off the court. He can’t even win and led his team to losing. And other stuff. (Note: no one said these exact words, but people said stuff similar to this.)

What part of Basketball do these ignorant people seem to understand? Why does it always have to be “Lebron leading the team”? Why not his team leading Lebron. Basketball is a team sport, without a good team, no one can win, not even a superstar. So why do people compare Kobe to Lebron. Thats like comparing chocolate to a telephone. Those two can’t be compared. Kobe has an excellent team that “HELPS” him be the player who he is. All people know is what they see, Kobe and the Lakers. How long ago has it been since we have watched Kobe play for another team? Why can’t people put Kobe in Lebron’s position. Lebrons team is only average. Inferior to the Lakers. But what if Lebron was on the Lakers, and Kobe was on the Cavs. Kobe and Lebron’s roles would switch. Lebron would be doing what Kobe does and Kobe would be called the King and Krazy, or Kloser, or something like that, sitting at home with a bag of potato chips watching the team that send him fishing. A players success depends on his team. We aren’t playing 1 v 1 games. Its 5 v 5, and this requires teamwork. Also, people need to take into account the fact that Kobe has much more experience than Lebron. If all these wannabe basketball fans compare Kobe to Lebron, they might as well compare Michael Jordan to Rajon Rondo. Im tired of typing, and I have a lot more to say about the silly, immature Lebron vs Kobe debate. But why can’t these fans actually utilize their brains and think outside the Kobe/Lakers? Most of the people are die-hard kobe fans. And most of these fans are just followers who live in LA or California saying, “Hey look, Im a Laker fan cause i live in California. Woohoo go lakers.” Whenever I meet people like this, I tell them, you have a choice. No one is forcing you to be a laker fan just cause you live in LA. People need to stop becoming fans because of where they live. People need to start becoming fans because they like the team, not because the best basketball player is on that team. All these people give Basketball and the NBA a bad name.

So why are so many basketball fans ignorant?
I realized ignorant is a harsh word, and another person who replied pointed this out. I just want to say I don’t mean to use it in a harsh way. I meant it to be used as a word to describe NBA fans who only view things from their team’s perspectives.

The Expert answers:

I do agree that comparing the same players over and over again can be excessive, but it’s part of being in the spotlight. People say what they want…hey its the internet; however, i do feel that certain people can take their comments too far and just say stupid things

however, it does sound like you’re just defending lebron. While you point out all the bad comments made about lebron, you yourself have made several no-so-nice comments regarding kobe. There are plenty of other comments demeaning kobe and many of the more known players in the nba. I think it’s just better to brush off those types of comments because there will always be people that hate a particular team or person. That’s just the way how most sports work. It would be nice if it were different, but it doesn’t seem like comments without offensive language will ever be seen.

Naturally there are going to be lakers fans in california. Why would you root for another team if the most games you see on television happen to be your home team? It would be easier to like the players from your own team when you see them on tv, or go to a home game.

And why would players exert more effort to win if they don’t even have the support for the town that they are playing for to win a championship? It’s like rooting for another high school, maybe even a rival high school. Even if the other high school may have better or more likeable players, wouldn’t you root for your own school who is isn’t maybe as great, but has some talent.

Like you said, no one is forcing LA fans to be Lakers fans or Clippers fans, but also, who are you to complain and judge their reasons for liking any particular team. There may be many bandwagoners, (its human nature to want to be on the winning team) but you just need to focus on your own team instead of criticizing the lakers. And don’t be too sure that everyone from california likes the lakers. I know several people from california, including some family members that happen to hate the lakers, which I find them to be really confusing because of their extreme hate towards them without really giving a reason. (they happen to be spurs fans by the way, even if they were born in canada)

so many basketball fans can be viewed as ignorant, (that isn’t necessarily the right word), because it is easy to get caught up in defending your favorite team without realizing that you may have said something dumb. Others however may realize what they say and say it anyway because it makes them feel better. Just ignore them.

Chris asks…

What’s the most hilarious thing you have ever heard in the Basketball section ; NBA SURVEY ALSO….?

Most hilarious thing you’ve heard in this section?

2. True or False: Cavaliers make the playoffs?
3. Best dunker in the NBA today?
4. Do you think Chris Bosh will be in the HOF someday? (hall of fame)
5. Who do you think is the best player in the NBA, now?

NBA 2010-2011 season starts in 10 days!

The Expert answers:

Someone used to always say Dirk is the best in the NBA.

1. It’s possible, we’ll see the talent.
2. No
3. Shannon brown has hops, but you gotta look at Lebron and Dwight
4. His career still isn’t over yet, but from the looks of things, no.
5. Kobe Bryant

Linda asks…

How would you react if the Los Angeles Clippers won the NBA Championship in 2010?

The Los Angeles Clippers are known as one of the worst basketball teams to exist because of many poor records, not making the playoffs often, poor business leadership and not recruiting good players who can help the team win a postseason game. If the Los Angeles Clippers turned around in 2009-2010 and won the NBA Championship, what would you do or how would you react knowing the Clippers won the NBA Title?

If the Los Angeles Clippers won the 2010 NBA Title, I would be in complete shock because the Clippers are not that talented like the Los Angeles Lakers which has played in many NBA Championships this decade.

The Expert answers:

Yea the only way the clippers would nba champsionship is if they were the only team in the NBA haha

Lisa asks…

Why are the Atlanta Hawks so underrated?

I just LOVE that Atlanta Hawks, but I was just wondering…why is this team full of young, talented basketball players so underrated? We have great players like Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Jamal Crawford, and Al Horford. This team is a really good team & we continue ton improve each year. This year we had 53 wins, the most wins since the 1996-1997 season. We’re gonna do big things in NBA Playoffs 2010. Watch out :)
@jmarisawesome: That’s why the hawks beat the celtics 4-0

The Expert answers:

Atlanta’s never been a big basketball city
so the Hawks dont get that much spotlight or media as everybody else.

But its kinda ok that way, I wouldn;t want our guy exposed too much by the media anyways.
I like them the way they are, no ego, good chemistry :)

GOO HAWKS!!

Mark asks…

Is Home Court Advantage The Most Overrated Topic In the NBA Playoffs?

Home “Field” Advantage may have a huge significance in football(because you’re only playing one game) But in Basketball it’s Vastly Overrated to me.

If i’m not mistaken, the 2010 Celtics were a 4 or 5 Seed during their run to the Finals
A couple championships that were won by the Spurs, they weren’t even the Number 1 Seed at the time that they did!

All it takes it ONE win by the Under-Seeding team in the higher Seed’s House(which they would have two opportunities to on the opposing teams home floor) and Home Court Advantage SHIFTS to the lower seed!

It just seems like a very overrated thing to me, if i’m a Coach of a Contending team i’d be doing the same thing Doc Rivers did with that 2010 Celtic Team(benching his starters at the end of the regular season)

I’d be trying to get a #2 or # seed, There is a definite advantage doing this in the NBA finals, steal one game on they opposing teams floor and you get THREE game in a row at your place!

Agree??? Or Disagree???
@Harvin that is my whole Point

The Expert answers:

Agree

It’s like almost 50/50. Road teams DO win series

Daniel asks…

Who is gonna be the NBA 2010 Champions?

Who do you think is gonna win? Lakers or Celtics? I’m a Celtics fan and I think they will clutch versing Lakers. They will stop it in game 4 or 5, they have come too far to lose it. They weren’t even trying in the regular season, like seriously the true Celtics came out during game 1 of the second series of the playoffs which was against the Cavaliers. Look at this, Allen vs. Bryant. Okay so I know that all of you think that Kobe is a great player, but guess what? He’s too overrated, Ray Allen is as fast as shit! Rondo and Allen together as a team is unstoppable, wait I put it in different perspectives. Rondo alone is as FAST AS SHIT! Rondo is unstoppable, Fisher wouldn’t stand a chance against him. He’s just gonna get embarassed. Now Pau Gasol vs. KG, KG is taller and has heart and talent. Gasol is just a racist. He ain’t got talent at all, KG automatically has that advantage, now Pierce vs. Artest, Pierce has the automatic advantage since he gets about 25 ppg. Pierce has a major advantage. Now Bynum vs. Perkins is a tough one, they are totally evened out you can’t guess who will get it. But Allen will dominate Kobe just like Pierce did in 2008, KG will dominate Gasol, Rondo will Dominate Fisher BIG TIME!!! And Perkins will be even. I’m not a hater, i’m just stating my opinion and I really think that the celtics will in it in game 6 of the Finals, GO BOSTON CELTICS!!! I’m a diehard fan everybody, I have everything of Celtics I have a Rondo jersey, 2 paul pierce jerseys, 2 Kevin Garnett Jerseys, and 1 Ray Allen jersey, Celtics pillows and bedsheets and blankets, Celtics posters, Celtics basketball cards, Celtics card games, Celtics Keychains, Celtics Pants, Celtics Banner, Celtics Folders I have everything.
It is a question, if you look at the question closely I said who is gonna be the NBA 2010 Champions? Meanwhile in the beginning I asked who you thought will be the Champions, i’m not bragging i’m supporting them. Lakers are way too overrated and if it weren’t for Kobe or Gasol the Lakers wouldn’t even be in the Finals. Celtics are a great team you must admit. And I don’t brag I never brag I only support.
READ MY THING 1 MORE TIME! Gasol is a racist, and fuck no. Lakers are also old faggot, goddamn. I already know who im choosing for best answer. None of you retards who think Lakers are gonna win though. Cause the Celtics have also come way too far. They beat the 2 teams with the best records in the NBA and have lost to the Cavaliers every game. And Celtics demolished the Cavs. Celtics will win in 6, we will just have to see and Gasol is a racist faggot. And Celtics are way too athletic plus they have time put on their side and they got heart. It’s just Kobe with motivation and his motivation is gonna get blown away. Just Watch.

The Expert answers:

Probably the celtics. The celtics have lots of big men like paul pierce, ray allen, kg, and rajon rondo. The lakers only have kobe bryant so go celtics.

The Expert answers:

Cleveland Cavaliers

LeBron James

Cleveland Cavaliers

That was great! What was even better was LeBron’s reaction. I love our team and their chemistry, which is off the charts.

Yes, I’ve stopped answering, and I can’t figure out whats worse, the people that keep on asking that question, or the people that keep on answering that question.

Since we lost game 7 against Boston last year. I was pumped for 09 playoffs, I knew our team would be something special, but I never expected us to be this good!

LeBron James deserves it every year really. He’s so important to our team.

Andy doing the chalk ritual. Lebron and Mo dancing with the Scream team yesterday. Every Cavs game is hilarious, those guys are so much fun to watch!

Joe Tait’s “Its basketball time at the Q.” LeBron’s chalk ritual, and all the pregame handshakes we have.

Yes, but I don’t want to talk about it, lol.

BQ: 18
BQ2: All my loyal Cavs fan, including you.
BQ3: Beyonce, Halo.
BQ4: Loved it.
BQ5: I cried when Boston won it all last year, I always cry, when a grown man cries after accomplishing something. Can’t wait to see those tears flowing down Bron Bron’s eyes. :)

Good Luck to your team too! I hope they go all the way.

Paul asks…

I’m a male…What are some flirtation tips?

Couple weeks ago I decided that I like this girl and I only met her once at some cookout. The cookout was for the 8th grade girls basketball, their going into 9th, I’m going into11th. I know the age difference but I see a lot of relationships with that age difference. Plus everybody matures when they get into high school. So I wanted to get to know her but since I have confidence problems I didn’t really say much to her. The cookout was at my house and I’m watching an NBA Playoff game and the girl and one of her friends came in and I was like, “hey whats up, wat r u guys doing in here?” (cuz its my house) They were like, “oh its cold out” or something like that. So I’m watching TV and I ask what classes are they taking next year, they said what classes they are taking next year and I had nothing to say after that. But that was just the background, my problem is the conversation with the girl over facebook. Just to let you know these were wall to wall conversations. And her Relationship status is Married, I can’t tell if she is with someone or not, by looking at her pictures it doesn’t seem like she is.

It started out like this:

Me: hey [girl's name] whats up?
Girl: heyy nothingg rlly hbu
Me: n2m, did you have fun at the cookout?
Girl: yeahh it was alrightt, you looked pretty bored though
Me: yeah, i mean i wasnt that bored, i played basketball for a little bit then i went inside to watch tv and then you and [girl's friends name] came in
END

(4 days later)
Me: hey you going to 311 concert?
Girl: ehh pprobably not, are youu?
Me: haha yeah i am, what…you dont like 311?
Girl: nah theyre allright, i was gonna but none of my friends are realy going
Me: ah man that sucks, youll b missin out on all the fun, 311 is a really good band, r u going to any other concerts this summer?
END

Apparently, people are saying that I need to flirt a little more and I don’t want to talk to her again because I don’t want to friggen stalk her and be creepy. I feel like a loser even though I was told by my sister that her friends think I’m cute, I’ll send you a pic if you give me your email or something like that, if you want. I just don’t want to embarrass myself cuz this is over facebook and i dont have her IM or phone #. Any flirtation tips? I’m so miserable and sad.

The Expert answers:

You should keep trying and talking to her. Maybe invite her to something. I’m in the same kind of thing right now with a guy that is two years older than me and he never really talked ot me but he randomly invited me on a group date and it was really fun!

The Expert answers:

You’ve gotta play hard-to-get!

You are coming across too strong and really clingy by always making the first attempt to start a conversation,

And you are being too polite to her. Nice guys finish last. Girls like a “bad boy” who disrepects them.

Or better yet, hit on her friend. Girls always want what they cant have.

Ok First of all you have done nothing wrong, You say that you are kinda shy, is she shy as well? I say that you wait for a bit and have her Start up the conversation or give her a few hints that you are kinda interested in her. This isn’t a confidence problem…it’s just a “Men-are-from-Mars-Women-are-from-Venus” problem!!

Men and women cant communicate to each other!

You need to make her jealous and want YOU! Start dating the “friend” who thinks you are cute. She will then realize what she is missing! The grass is greener on the otherside! Soon she’ll be begging you to leave the friend and date her…meanwhile, you are getting some crotch nostril action with the friend!

Top 10 NBA PLAYERS of ALL Time?

1.) Bill Russel– The game is measured by championships.. the man dominated in a then know name college and dominated basketball in his era.

2.)Michael Jordan– Championships, pure domination, longevity, and will to win.

3.) Larry Bird– Complete package… passing, rebounding, shooting… saw the court as well as any other player… if you doubt this pick as Magic!

4.)Kareem– unstoppable, longevity, championships, mvps, and consistently made whatever team he played for a contender.

5.) Magic— helped, along side bird to save the NBA. Revolutionized the game as the first real multiple position player… and 5 titles

6.) Tim Duncan— 4 titles… playoff apearences every year of his career… consistent… 2 mvps… If I gave the doubters that description without Tim Duncans name they’d agree.

7.)Shaq–4 titles, an MVP, longevity, and dominant throughout his career… dominated center postion for past Decade +

8)Wilt Chamberlain— Underappreciated by todays fans, and probably myself since I never saw him play… but I hear his athletism was unmatched and that the bulls even offered him a contract when he was well into his 50′s! But, he’s lower on my list becasue he couldn’t beat Bill Russel and win more than two titles even whent there were less teams to compete with.

9)Kobe Bryant—-One MVP 3 rings I believe he can get 3 more and top 5 talent wise player of all time

10.)Hakeem the Dream…. multiple titles, longevity, and showed his prowess by dominating a young shaq in the 95 finals!

Should the NBA and NHL switch to a 2-3-2 format for playoff scheduling?

Of the three major sports that have seven-game playoff series (baseball, basketball and hockey), only MLB uses the 2-3-2 format.

The NBA uses this format only during the Finals.

The 2-3-2 format would reduce travel time/fatigue for players, coaches and staff involved, and would also cut costs for teams and media.

LITY- I’m curious as to why the NHLPA would oppose the previously used 2-3-2 format. From a player health issue, I’d think the travel impact (not so much for the Eastern Conference with the current setup, but for the Western teams for sure) might be a greater issue.

Again…MLB uses it and has for years (and remember- the NHL was using it for a while).

But I don’t play in the NHL, so presumably these guys know what works best for them.

Sandra asks…

Fantasy Basketball Question about playoffs (will choose BA)?

It’s quite a bit but if you know about basketball it’s probably simple. I will chose a best answer.

This is my first year doing fantasy and actually really paying attention to the NBA. My team basically already has a guaranteed playoff spot so I’m starting to plan for the playoffs. I have already looked at the schedules for all my players (my playoffs/championship are the last 4 weeks of the regular season not counting that last 1/2 week.) it’s a 6 team leauge and I have great players in every position except my worst starter which is in my sg slot, Kevin Martin. If I could get an upgrade at that slot I think my team would be unstoppable. I am looking at Dwayne Wade and think that I may be able to get him but do you think he will be rested at all during my playoffs/championship? It’s a weekly locked lineup so even a player missing 1 or 2 games can hurt. If you think that he won’t be rested and should be producing his normal stats how does Kevin Martin + John Wall sound for a trade for him (I already have deron and cp3 for my pg)? Also what do you think about Carmelo + Martin for D Wade & Pierce? Remember I don’t really care about the regular season much anymore, it’s all about what players will perform the best and play the most during my playoffs/championship. Thanks!
It’s a 6 team leauge I’m in first overall undefeated last place only has 1 win so ik I’ll make the playoffs. But do you think wade will be benched the last week (not the half week where teams have between 1 and 3 games).

The Expert answers:

Sure is lengthy. How does your team have a guaranteed playoff spot already? Its Mid-February, who knows, you might be out of playoff contention or might not even get the first spot in your league. Might want to keep on competing. You can using the first trade to try and trade for wade, but I don’t think the person who has him would want to trade Wade BC I have had offers for Dwayne Wade and I rejected them all BC I wanted to hold on to Wade. You’re right, D-Wade might be rested for the final week of the season, but K-Mart might probably be not so I do recommend that if your team is doing so good, just hold on to him for now. See if you can do the trade first, if not, then don’t worry about because I think you got plenty of good guards on your team and might not need another one. If you need an upgrade, try looking for Jordan Crawford in free agency if he is available. Good Luck :)

Steven asks…

What do you guys think about the upcoming MLB playoffs and the coverage?

” I SURE hope I’m wrong, but from the scheduling, to its studio show, to the presence of inexperienced analysts (not that all experienced ones are better), to the absence of high-def telecasts on many systems, the four MLB division series then the NLCS, all now in the exclusive hands of TBS, feel like another postseason TV disaster on the come.

Since baseball went to the wild card, the postseason on TV has carried a trial-and-error quality more in line with spring training.

Remember the regionalized postseason presented by The Baseball Network, MLB’s calamitous 1994 misadventure? Recall how more games went unseen when they were moved to FOXs FX cable network? And who can forgive, er, forget, when even more games went unseen when they appeared on ABC’s Family Channel cable network?”

Do you think this year’s playoff coverage is gonna be a disaster?

IN basketball ever since the NBA left NBC and went to TNT and ESPN all season and playoffs the ratings and coverage have been horrendous

http://www.nypost.com/seven/09302007/sports/low_expectations_for_playoffs_.htm

THE NBA plays like 1 game in the weekend on ABC (non cable channel) during the NBA playoffs (which cover like 2 months) and then they play all the NBA finals games on ABC…which turned out to be a disaster last year as it received the LOWEST RATINGS EVER for an NBA FINALS SERIES

The Expert answers:

Heh, I remember watching those games on ABC Family. I’d say that one good thing is that they won’t have to worry about an empty Atlanta stadium again. Baseball, basketball, and especially hockey will only dream about getting the ratings that football gets.

John asks…

Which do you prefer? Basketball or wrestling?

NBA playoff Game between the Nuggets vs the Lakers is scheduled for next Monday at the Pepsi Center in Denver Colorado. The only problem is that there was already something scheduled in advanced since August 2008. Yet we will have 2 shows scheduled for the Pepsi Center.

If you had to choose, which sporting even would you attend to live? Wrestling (WWE RAW) or NBA basketball?

Kobe Bryant, Pao Gasol vs Chauncy Billups , Carmelo Anthony

Or

Randy Orton, Legacy vs John Cena, Batista, Ric Flair

The Expert answers:

How about the NBA Basketball team vs the WWE Super Stars? That might be fun.

Sharon asks…

Should the NBA rethink its playoff seeding format?

C’mon… no Warriors just because they’re in the West? How can you “reward” doormats like Atlanta and Philly for being in the weak East?
As I’ve read in an expert’s column, maybe the NBA should just seed playoff teams regardless of conference. That hurts in terms of travel and TV schedules, but we do get quality basketball teams, right?

The Expert answers:

No.

David asks…

teams with strong playoff schedule?

during the last 2 or 3 weeks in the nba season, what teams have the most games and the best schedules that would help out a fantasy basketball team. i have 3 warriors on my team right now

The Expert answers:

Seeing as how the allstar games are coming up, no one will be playing coming up, but towards the end of the season the Jazz have a lot of home games. They have the best home record in the NBA. Pick up kyle korver from the Jazz, he was just traded to them and since they have been 16-2. They are on a 10 games winning streakand have an incredibly easy lineup. A game tonight and on saturday. Kyle will help your free throw percentage (almost the best in the NBA) 3 pointers, around 4 made a game, points hitting over 20 points a game recently, and is starting to play good defense. A lot of fantasy leagues havent picked him up yet because they were un-aware of the trade. I would nab any one from the jazz’s, or suns bench. 2 best benches in the NBA

good luck man

Laura asks…

should the mlb change their playoff format?

i think they should get rid of the division, make the regular season schedule more balance and that they should make the best 4 teams with the best record to advance to the playoffs. right now, it seems unfair that a team who is second or third place in the wildcard, who has a better record than the first place team on a weak division, are not allowed in the playoffs because they are runner-ups in a very strong division. should the mlb change it to this format.

ps-since i’m a basketball guy, i thought the nba playoff format will fit perfectly in baseball but baseball fans tell me no. people told me that this format will work. Will it.

The Expert answers:

Divisional play is the only feasible way to establish which teams should go into the playoffs. Period.

To improve baseball meaningfully, three things must happen.

1. No more scheduled inter-league play.

2. Elimination of the DH.

3. And a better balanced schedule.

One last note about the playoffs. I never want to see MLB trying to play baseball in the snow. It takes 2 months for NBA basketball to finally wind up its season..

A World Series in December just doesn’t hack it.

Ken asks…

Wrestling vs. Basketball ..?

World Wrestling Entertainment’s live, internationally televised broadcast, WWE Monday Night Raw (USA Network, 9:00 PM ET) to take place at the Pepsi Center in Denver next Monday, May 25 is in jeopardy of being canceled by the Denver Nuggets. WWE and the Denver Nuggets are currently at an impasse in resolving a scheduling debacle by the team and the Pepsi Center. A sell-out crowd is expected to attend the WWE show at the same time the Denver Nuggets are slated to square off against the Los Angeles Lakers for Game 4 of the NBA Western Conference Finals. WWE has held the May 25 date with the Pepsi Center since Aug. 15, 2008.

“Even though the Denver Nuggets had a strong team this year and were projected to make the playoffs, obviously Nuggets and Pepsi Center owner Stan Kroenke did not have enough faith in his own team to hold the May 25 date for a potential playoff game,” said WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

What are your thoughts on Pepsi Center owner Stan Kroenke?
and what do you think is going to happen ?

The Expert answers:

This happened in Pittsburgh with a possible double-booking of a Penguins playoff game and a Yanni concert and the NHL moved the game, since forcing the cancellation of the show would have opened up serious litigation against the league and arena due to essentially ripping up a binding contract with a promoter and event that was firmly on the calendar.

The NBA is not the NHL, though, and I believe it will force the cancellation of the WWE show by taking precedence to holding the playoff game and Vince McMahon will counter in court to gain an injunction to hold his show that already has 10,000-plus tickets sold. This has all the makings of getting very ugly in the next six days.

I wanna start watching basketball so I will know more about it.

James asks…

how can I watch nba playoffs game over the internet willing to pay?

i luv basketball and the only thing is that i have to go to Germnay for the summer and i cant miss any suns games thanks a lot
i would like to see the games live

The Expert answers:

Check out the following link

http://download.nba.com/

Paul asks…

Would you rather watch NCAA Tournament (march madness) or the NBA playoffs?

If I had to choose only one to watch, it would definitely be the NBA playoffs (even if Rockets arent in the playoffs). I love college basketball and NBA, but the pros are just better in my opinion.

1. NBA

2. NCAA Basketball

BQ 1: Do you think John Wall will be better than Derrick Rose? How good do you think Wall will be in NBA?
BQ 2: How many pizza slices do you eat, when you pizza for dinner or something? (I eat 3, usually)
In BQ 2: there should be a “have” after you.

The Expert answers:

NCAA advantages and disadvantages:
- filling out brackets is fun.
- so many upsets.
- players are not as skilled.

NBA advantages and disadvantages:
- players are supremely skilled.
- not so many upsets.
- can get boring at times.

It’s tough, but I would choose the NBA playoffs because the players are so so damn good it’s ridiculous that they can make the game look so easy at times.

BQ1: Yes I believe he will be better and I think Wall is already a better shooter than Rose.
BQ2: depends on the size obviously, but i usually get a large pizza from papa john’s and i’ll eat half of it.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=7eY8qGHU52E&feature=related

thats just unreal. it is perfectly clear that the nba was rigged. look at that series. look at the lakers vs kings.

after watching two great teams who had great seasons go down in the playoffs not because they were outplayed, but because the refs decided to take matters into their own hands, my question to you guys is, do you guys still want to watch the nba?

The Expert answers:

I’m a woman and the only reason i watch nba cuz nfl isnt on.

Sandy asks…

i love basketball and play it but do you think the NBA is getting boring to watch unless its the playoffs?

basketballs kind of boring to watch now, for example there’s like top teams who always win and when they’re versing a bad team, its obviouss their gonna win and usually have huge leads and no chance of the other team coming back, so the game gets really boring to watch. unlike other sports like hockey and baseball, the sucky team actually has a chance* to come back and win, but in basketball, theres like no chance. so whats the point of watching if u already know who’s gonna win

The Expert answers:

Not really, if your looking forward to a person lets say oj mayo in memphis you’ll be interested watching it. Maybe you’re not interested in the teams or players that why you’re bored watching regular games, in my case i always look forward to the players who is the star of the team for example keven durant, i know the OKC is a bad team now but i want to see how KD can lift his team in the ff years

Joseph asks…

When you first started watching NBA Basketball, what team won the championship?

BQ- What team had the best and worst record during the regular season?
BQ2- Did your favorite team make the playoffs? If so, did they win the championship?
BQ3- Did you like playing as Michael Jordan and using classic teams in NBA 2K11?

The Expert answers:

I first started really watching basketball regularly in 1996. The Bulls beat the Sonics to win the first title of their second threepeat.

BQ: The bulls had the best record at 72-10. The newly instated Vancouver Grizzlies had the worst record at 15-67.

BQ2: The Pistons did make the playoffs but lost to the Magic 3-0.

BQ3: Yes I did, I loved seeing the old rosters and players from the past I don’t get to watch play anymore.

Michael asks…

How does GB (Games Behind) work in NBA playoff standings?

I watch NBA basketball and i’m having a hard time understanding the standings system.

The Expert answers:

And to add on what the first answer said, while using the same scenario, the Blazers are 5-9 and the Lakers 10-4, you control 0.5 of a game in the GB every night you step on the court. If POR played tonight at 5-9 and won their game, but the Lakers were off that night, you changed the 5.0 GB to 4.5 GB. Vice versa, if the Lakers then played the next night and POR was off and LAL lost, take another 0.5 off the lead and POR would only be 4.0 GB with the following records.

Blazers 6-9
Lakers 10-5

If you’re Portland and you’re doing your part and winning, you don’t necessarily make up ground if the Lakers keep winning too. So take that 0.5 idea and put it in this scenario:

Blazers 8-7
Lakers 10-6

The Blazers would be 1.5 GB the Lakers because of the 2 games behind in the win column (0.5×2=1) and 1 game behind in the loss column (0.5×1=0.5)

Bottom Line:0.5 is what you can add or subtract from your GB on a daily basis.

Hope that broke it down, I tried to simplify as much as I could lol

http://www.noolmusic.com/blogs/YouTube_Google_Myspace_Video_Sports_NBA_Basketball_-_Michael_Jordan_1986_Playoffs_Gm_1_Vs_Celtics_49_Pts.shtml

The Expert answers:

It was great, I saw it live, as well on ESPN Classic. The Bulls were a little like the Lakers now, as MJ was really the only option that they had. I think that was the year MJ missed almost the whole year with a broken foot, and they wanted him to stay out so that they could get a good draft pick, but he came back with maybe 15 games to go and got them into the playoffs.

Ruth asks…

What is the title NBA Arena Song?

What is the name of the song they play at NBA arenas? They usually play it during a timeout in a close game in the 4th quarter, especially during the playoffs. It is has a inspirational/motivational feel, has no lyrics, and sounds like it’s from a Rocky Soundtrack.

They played it in the Jazz/Warriors game in the background during a timeout and TNT was showing some other basketball related video clip.
Never mind, if anyone else was wondering, it was The Final Countdown by Europe.
I used this site to figure it out. I couldn’t believe it worked!

http://www.bored.com/songtapper/s/tappingmain.bin?dotap=1

The Expert answers:

The Final Countdown isn’t instrumental. The most played arena song in the NBA during timeouts in close games is got to be Rock And Roll Part II or the “Hey Song” by Gary Glitter.

Linda asks…

Do you think it’s fair for Haters to discredit Lebron James?

Hi

Regarding this, in all honesty is their anyone who has taken more criticism then LeBron, his haters try discredit everything he does and act like he’s a scrub. I’ve seen comments saying Le-Bum, NO athlete on earth gets as much criticism as LeBron James. When Heat lose a game, haters come out to attack him, to point the blame fully on him when Basketball is a team sport. When Miami wins credit never goes to Lebron

LeBron James, has been playing out of his mind this year, and can do some things that no one has ever been able to do, is probably the fastest and the strongest player in the NBA currently. If you had to choose one player to defend Derrick Rose, Kobe Bryant, or Dwight Howard, I think LeBron would very possibly be your first choice for each.

His haters loves to point out he isn’t clutch, They seem to forget if it wasn’t for Lebron Miami probably wouldn’t have made it past Chicago last year in ECF, I said a Bulls fans who said he would love to see how clutch he can be against Bulls isn’t that crazy? Didn’t he just witness how King James closed out Game 5 against them, it was one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen in NBA

This year, LeBron showing why he is the best player in the NBA and a clear cut MVP favorite as of right now. He’s puts up numbers I used to think were only possible in video games, and even then by created players with all 99 ratings lol. I don’t think my guys in 2K12 to average those numbers. Somehow haters disagree discredits numbers he puts up.

Why.. Just because of he’s on same team as Wade & Bosh? Didn’t sports experts & haters say, Lebron would never average these numbers again, if he took his talents to south beach. Wade is out resting with injury. Guess what, The King’s performances has been absolutely crazy this year”.he’s putting up better numbers then Durant & Dwight Howard.

Yes, Durant & Okl has a better record then Heat but isn’t that to be expected? Durant’s team is one of the youngest and deepest in the league. Westbrook is developing into one of best PG’s, and Harden out of no where is clearly 6th man of the year. Won’t be surprising if he turns into a All-Star one day. Then they have Perkins, Ibaka,Cook etc beat you in any way”. it’s like pick your battles with OKL CIty.

I Don’t see how Durant is ahead of Lebron in MVP Discussion? When ,Heat are without Dwayne Wade, Who’s suppose to be seen as the leader in his team. If Lebron is a scrub as haters said, where is this massive drop off???

King James is, clearly the best player in the league and has been for a long time. His haters are trying to discredit him to show he’s no longer valuable, ,Problem is his talent won’t be denied. You can’t hide the fact that he’s outplaying every single guy in this league thus far, as much as you want to pretend he isn’t, he is. but haters say what’s he’s doing is nothing new.. They have seen this before from him in the NBA regular & to do that in NBA Playoffs.

Is This criticism really fair? Fact is No other NBA Player today posts, same numbers like Lebron has done year after year after year etc, Kinda scary he’s improving on his numbers, They said his numbers couldn’t be done on Heat, he has averaged 30+PPG in the past, but the way he is getting these 30 points now are totally different and much more efficient/sustainable. He’s playing the best ball of his career. Man is slimmer than last year and is playing a much smarter game.. To put these types of expectations on him is unfair.

Really amazing, Lebron get destroyed from Media & Haters, for passing to a wide open man on his team, when the game is on the line”. like in the Warriors & Clippers game where you see him trying to force shots to go in 4th quarter”. it’s like he’s trying to answer his critics would really love for his shots to go in. I think Wade feels the same, he’s willing step to side, let his best friend take Spotlight to prove his haters wrong..

Wade Sees Lebron as brother, doesn’t like to see comments his friend gets, he knows how much James dislikes being hated for doing nothing wrong”. He wasn’t disrespectful didn’t do anything wrong. The man never request a trade or force his way out of his team. Etc Anthony,Paul,Howard. players who wants to play somewhere else still get $$$

BQ:How funny is it, Haters forget Jordan was definition of arrogant, using James arrogant for disliking him is pointless. Bird, Pippen,Magic, ,Kobe were all arrogant. Nothing’s wrong with that many girls like myself like seeing that in a man :b

The Expert answers:

Amen to all that.
But I guess people cant just stand him for being too good.

Jenny asks…

How Will Kobe Bryant’s Story Be Told?

Article by sports writer Chase Sagum When it’s all said and done, how will the story of Kobe Bryant be told? After what is already an illustrious career, and what seems to be a few more championship rings that hang in the balance. When it’s over, will he be viewed as a villain or as a hero? An All-Star or an All Time Great? One of the 50 or 60 greatest NBA players? Or one of the top few greatest of all time? We know he’s not Michael Jordan, but is he close?

An even more interesting yet important question to ask is, who will tell his story? His legend? Will it be the fans? Or will it be the Media? It’s obvious that basketball fans for the most part view him positively. The media on the other hand, negative! While professional sports journalists all took their shots last year at Kobe Bryant for not passing while he scored 5 straight games of 50+ points, Boston Celtic fans were busy chanting “MVP” “MVP” to a Laker!!! The year before, fans in what is considered the “Mecca of basketball”, New York City, cheered on Kobe Bryant and gave their respects to who they feel is the best in the game! The sports media world was still busy bashing Kobe Bryant for not passing enough in his 81 point performance!

Unfortunately thus far in his career, the story of Kobe Bryant has been primarily told by the negative and pessimistic media. Most of which have never really played the game of basketball, and therefore should not have too much validity in their claims. Sports greats of old days have had their stories told primarily by the fans. Think of Wilt Chamberlains 100 points in one game performance. We have no video highlight of that performance. But our best record is the picture of Wilt holding a sign with a number “100? written on it, and the testimony of the thousands of fans who were there to witness the event in awe! I wonder if Wilt had done that today, how the sports media would have responded? They would have said, “Wilt only 1 assist”!!!

Let it be known that the Media does not need to tell the story of these great professional athletes. That goes for Kobe Bryant and for all others. We, the fans are there to witness these athletes and share stories of their great performances. The media doesn’t need to remind me when Michael Jordan hit the game winner over Byron Russel to beat the Utah Jazz in the playoffs! I REMEMBER! Or Kobe’s shot to beat the Suns in the 05-06 playoffs. I REMEMBER!

I’m tired of phony journalists and sports reporters telling the story of Kobe Bryant. We the fans should have more of a voice. We are the ones watching these athletes with a much less biased opinion! As fans, if Kobe Bryant doesn’t perform then we don’t like him! Plain and simple. But because of the way he performs night in and night out, that’s why we love him! That’s why we say he’s the best player on the planet. We don’t need the media or some “pencil neck geek” to tell us what to think about Kobe Bryant. Just because a journalist or reporter was offended by Kobe Bryant’s attitude or “cockiness” at one time, doesn’t mean I should have to listen to his or her biased hatred of Kobe Bryant! Who gives these idiots a job anyway.

This blog is all about fans telling the story of Kobe Bryant. And I am looking for anyone who is willing to share their thoughts. If any of you are interested in being an author on this blog then please contact me at chase@bestplayerontheplanet.com. Even if you are not interested in being an author, you can always share your comments. It’s best to hear from fans themselves their opinion on all subjects. Remember, you don’t have to be a Laker fan to be a Kobe Bryant fan. I have always loved the Lakers. But boy when Michael Jordan was playing he was my favorite player. I couldn’t help it. I still routed for my Lakers, but made sure to pull for old Mike at the same time. So whether you are a die hard Laker fan like me, or are a fan of another team and a fan of Kobe Bryant at the same time, this blog is here for you to tell your side of the story! Peace!

Sandy asks…

Questions re basketball backboard in driveway?

We are considering setting up a basketball backboard for kids to use in the driveway, and have some questions:

1) Any way to keep the ball from bouncing in flowers, neighbor’s yard, etc.? (A net, screen, etc.)

2) Any basketball system brands that have had problems — which we would like to avoid!

3) About how much space do we need? (for the court)

4) Any other products that make it practical to play in a smaller space.

I’d appreciate any good advice people can send this way!

The Expert answers:

1/ net
2/ cheap ones like 60$
3/about 15-20 feet in a half circle
4/ sorry cant think of any

Charles asks…

do you think im a small kid?

I’m 5’6″ and im 15. i weigh 115.

do u also think i can jump high, i can get backboard on most 10′ basketball nets, and i can get rim on 9′.
and im white just to point that out

The Expert answers:

Its not about ur height is about ur energy and power

Helen asks…

How do I fix my wooden basketball backboard?

It’s a neighborhood goal, it appears someone was hanging on the rim and the bolts were stripped from the metal bracket thing at the top of the actual backboard (not the rim). Since it appears to be stripped i don’t think buying new bolts would fix it. Right now the whole backboard slants downward and is completely useless.

http://www.goal-posts.net/media/bas…

(example, top part of the backboard)

Any easy fixes?

The Expert answers:

You may have to replace the backboard and/or the metal bracket frame. If the bracket is bent, you can check around the neighborhood and the newspaper to see if someone is selling an old one at a good price, or check with the local junkyards. Replacing the wooden backboard may help, but if the bracket is bent, replacing it seems like your best bet.

Richard asks…

Is this just my problem? Basketball related?

so i went to a basketball court with no net and a huge backboard. The backboard and the rim itself was very bouncy. Like once you hit it with a basketball, it just goes wayyy back. I think im usually used to playing with the net but i was shooting at lower then 20%. Is it just me or the basketball hoop.

The Expert answers:

Coming from someone thats played in soo many different gyms it can be hard addapting to a different type of ring. I know they are all the same shape but it takes getting used to. Orrr you may have just been having an off day.

The Expert answers:

Sorry to be the one to tell you this, but there is no actual way to make your backboard stronger. It doesn’t come back either cause the material is bad or it is old and has lost elasticity. You need to get a new backboard. Hope this helps man.

Is Lenny Wilkens the last African-American head coach to lead a team to a championship?

Over the past couple of years, there have been many African-American coaches that have lead a team to appear in the NBA Finals such Byron Scott of then-New Jersey Nets, Avery Johnson of the Dallas Mavericks, and Mike Brown of the Cleveland Cavaliers. I’m doing a story about Lenny Wilkens because I’m from the Bay Area and we have a coach who is behind his record for all time wins by a head coach. I only know a litte bit facts about Lenny Wilkens that he is winningest coach of all time and also he was the head coach of the Sonics and lead the team to a championship. But is he the last Afro-American to lead a basketball team to a championship? If you guys have any information from sources or articles, feel free to anawer this question. Thank you.

The Expert answers:

Hi CrisMC,
No, Lenny Wilkens is not the last African-American head coach to lead a team to an NBA title. K.C. Jones did it with the Boston Celtics twice, 1984 and the last time an African-American coach won the NBA championship 1986.
